The Premium Lag Gaming Blog

If you’re a serious gamer you’ve probably at least heard of lag switches, but you might not be entirely clear on what they are. Lag switches are a tool used to cut your outbound network connection, allowing you to keep receiving information without your enemies knowing what you’re up to. When you release the switch all of the actions you’ve taken are transmitted out to your opponent’s consoles. This means all the shots you fired will take effect, all the distance you’ve covered will suddenly appear to your enemies, and all of it appears instantaneously.

To them you may appear to be 50 feet away frozen in place and completely. As they go to take a shot at you they suddenly die from being shot at point blank, by you, suddenly only a foot away. That’s the power of a lag switch.

To get started with a lag switch all you’ll need to do is replace your existing Ethernet cable with your new lag switch and join a game. Once you’re in the game you can begin having your fun. Start by testing the waters and pressing the switch for only a brief moment to get an idea of how the game responds. Different games will allow you different maximum lag times before presuming you have disconnected. Some games may be as long as 10 seconds while others may be as short as 2. You’ll have to first get an idea of how long you can use your lag switch for.

Once you have an idea of how long the game will allow you to lag for you can begin using it in combat. Simply hold the switch down and run across an open field without fear of being picked off. To your enemies you’ll appear to teleport right across if you can lag for long enough. Better still engage the enemy face to face and shock them with your new found temporary invulnerability.

For games where the lag time is relatively low try tapping the switch rather than holding to extended the time you can lag for. This lag is not as advantageous as solid lag because of your vulnerability between uses, but nonetheless can turn the tide of the battle in your favor.

Get a lag switch today and find out for yourself what your top scoring enemies and teammates are secretly using all the time.

A lot of people see a tutorial for building a lag switch at home on YouTube or some other website and it seems easy enough so they give it a go. They’ll follow every step of the tutorial and everything is looking great at the end. Now to just test it out.

Unfortunately this is where a lot of people get stuck and become frustrated. It’s not their fault. Most lag switch tutorials skip over one crucial detail of lag switching. That is that all modern consoles have a voltage detector to prevent the use of lag switches. These detectors can tell when the lag switch is engaged by sensing the change in current over the Ethernet cable. These little detectors are quite clever and represented a big step forward in anti-cheating technology from the Xbox and PS2 to the Xbox 360 and PS3. Now with the Xbox One and the PS4 the voltage detectors have become a standard among gaming consoles. So does this mean you can’t use lag switches anymore? No way!

So what can I do with this lag switch I made?

Unfortunately if you’ve built your lag switch at home there’s no way to easily bypass the voltage detector without additional equipment like an Ethernet switch, but here at Premium Lag we’ve done the research and the testing to develop our proprietary Stealth Shield technology enabling us to sneak right past these pesky voltage detectors.

When you use our Premium Lag switch the change in voltage will be so minor that the console will never have a chance to pick up on it. By taking care of the issue of lag switch detection for you, you can get back to gaming, and with a new weapon at your disposal.

What about this other lag switch I bought?

Unfortunately other lag switch vendors on the web are basically building their switches based on the tutorials provided on YouTube or other sites just like you would at home. Sure they have a nicer box and a push-button instead of a light switch, but the circuitry underneath is the same and the results will be too. Some vendors will tell you this up front, but others aren’t so quick to disclose it.

In the 5 years Premium Lag has been building and selling lag switches, no one else has ever introduced anything like our Stealth Shield technology, now in its second generation. If you want a lag switch that works right, the choice is clear.

The newest edition to Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty line was released just last week and we’re excited to announce that our fans will be able to use their Premium Lag Switch in game.

Call of Duty: Ghosts has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year with tons of promotions running including the Monster energy drink special edition Call of Duty: Ghosts and a preorder offer that includes a dynamic multiplayer map called Free Fall that shifts and changes as the game progresses. You’ll also get access to Simon Riley, a character many of you will remember from Call of Duty, Modern Warfare: 2. COD: Ghosts is one of the rare games available for every major system, the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, the Wii U and PC.

This newest addition to the Call of Duty saga begins with the Russian Federation hijacking control of a space station armed with ODIN, a super weapon in space that can bombard the earth below with devastating results. Fortunately for our protagonist’s sake the American astronauts sacrifice themselves, using the stations self-destruct to destroy it.

Call of Duty: Ghosts expands on the tried and true format of past COD games but with notable improvements. The first thing you’ll notice is your canine companion Riley. Riley will come to your aid on the battlefield, helping you out in some particularly difficult situations.

The real magic of the game, as with the previous titles is the immersive multiplayer experience. Ghosts brings this to life more than ever with the ability to choose from 35 perks from Wiretap, allowing you to hack into enemy Sat Coms, to Deadeye which will increase the damage you cause as you rack up more and more consecutive kills. The new perk system adds a huge amount of variability to the game, assigning different values to each perk, allowing you to get a bunch of small advantages or a couple of heavy hitters. In fact you can even forego your secondary weapon for 3 additional perk points to work with. Additionally for the first time ever players will be able to play as a female character and modify their appearance to their liking.

The multiplayer maps have also changed quite a bit, with much larger maps than in previous COD games due to the focus on ranged weapons. This may be great for some players, but others will find themselves frustrated with the lack of enemies, or even allies nearby at times. You’ll find most of the same game modes you’ve grown used to, although a few of the old game modes, like “Demolition” and “Ground War” have been replaced with new modes like “Search and Rescue” and “Blitz”

Despite these changes and the fame of the franchise Ghosts has failed to meet expectations in terms of both reviews and sales. Reviews from gaming sites have been relatively good so far, with an 8.8 from IGN, and a 78 from Metacritic. The community ratings tell a different story though, with 4.9 from Gamespot users and a dismal 2.1 from Metacritic users, there are clearly some questions about the quality of this newest release.  That being said the game did ship over $1B work of copies in just the first day and is anticipated to continue to ship hundreds of millions of dollars of copies in the coming weeks and months.

You can pick up your copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts now for $59.99. Don’t forget to pick up a Premium Lag Switch for just $24.95 more and unleash your true multiplayer potential.

Yesterday Sony unveiled their vision for the future of gaming, the Playstation 4 (previously rumored to be named Orbis). The new Playstation will ship with tons of great features including PS4 Eye, which allows facial recognition, motion controls and some more tricks.

The Playstation 4 is a beast by any terms. It features an 8 core CPU and 8GB of GDDR5 memory. To put that into perspective that’s 16 times the total memory of the PS3 and the same amount found in a high mid-high end computer (though computers use DDR3 memory instead, but we’ll save you the technical stuff) The PS4 can also output 4k video, sometimes referred to as ultra HD. 4k video is a huge jump in pixel count, 400% the number of pixels in a 1080p screen. To put that into perspective the difference between 720p and 1080p is just 225%. Unfortunately this 4k resolution won’t extend to games, at least not for now.

It will feature gigabit Ethernet capability and compatibility with 802.11 b/g/n, which we’re happy to see comes standard with all models now. In addition you’ll get the standard AV connections; HDMI, Analog-AV and optical S/PDIF for audio buffs and home theater enthusiasts. You’ll also get the latest and greatest USB 3.0. Lastly we’ll see a new controller design, the Dualshock 4. Although not yet in its final stage it looks to be a great enhancement of their existing controller design while still being true to the classic design.

Stay tuned and if you want to spice up your gaming in the meantime pick up a lag switch and experience online gaming like never before.
